Why do little babies often scratch their butts?

Patient's question:

Recently, I've noticed that my daughter is scratching her anus, as if something is biting there. However, after examination, only the color around the anal opening is a bit darker, there are no swollen lumps, and no other symptoms appear. Sometimes, when she scratches excessively, she gets angry and cries. Could it be that she has worms in her stomach?
Past treatment history and effectiveness:
No treatment has been administered. I don't know what the problem is or which department to take her to.
The help I need:
I want to know the cause of this and which department I should take my child to.

Doctor's answer:

This condition may be caused by pinworms, characterized by anal itching, restlessness during deep sleep. In severe cases, symptoms may include irritability, restlessness during deep sleep, poor appetite, pale and thin appearance, and even nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, redness around the anus, vaginal itching in girls, enuresis, and frequent urination. You may observe nematodes in the feces, and after falling asleep at night, you may find pinworms crawling around the anus.
To kill the worms and reduce swelling and pain, you can use Pinworm Powder or Pinworm Ointment. Additionally, you can take Intestinal Worm Clear Tablets.
