What should I do if my baby has a fever caused by bronchial infection?

Patient's question:

Baby at ten months with bronchial infection causing fever has been running a temperature since yesterday morning, consistently between 37.5 and 38 degrees Celsius. Persistent fever last night at 38 degrees, took fever-reducing medicine, which lowered the fever. But this morning, the temperature is back up to 37.8 degrees. Should they take medicine?

Doctor's answer:

In this case, as long as the child is in good spirits and eating normally, recurring fevers are part of the process. The baby's temperature is mostly caused by a viral infection. Antiviral treatment or cold medicine can be taken, along with increased fluid intake. If the temperature does not exceed 38.5°C, it is not recommended to use fever-reducing medication. Over-the-counter herbal medicines for clearing heat and detoxifying, such as Xiao'er Chiqiao Qingre Granules, can be taken orally, and cooling patches can be applied externally.
