What's wrong with an 11-month-old baby stretching their arms forward and twisting their neck when they laugh?

Patient's question:

I am 36 years old this year, and recently I have been feeling unwell. During the day, I sometimes feel dizzy, and it has also affected my work. At night, I can't sleep, and the medicine I took doesn't seem to help much. Could you please explain why a 11-month-old baby laughs and extends their arms and twists their neck?

Doctor's answer:

Your condition may be epilepsy, which refers to a clinical phenomenon caused by abnormal and excessive hypersynchronous discharge of brain neurons. Its characteristics are sudden and transient convulsions or loss of consciousness. It is recommended to first undergo an electroencephalogram (EEG) examination and, if necessary, use phenytoin sodium for treatment.
There are many causes of fever in children, which can be broadly categorized into two types: infectious and non-infectious.
1. Infectious Fever
Various acute infectious diseases, such as measles, scarlet fever, roseola, chickenpox, rubella, influenza, mumps, meningitis, and Japanese encephalitis, can be accompanied by fever. Infectious diseases such as upper respiratory tract infections, tracheitis, pneumonia, otitis media, sepsis, skin infections, urinary tract infections, and purulent meningitis can also cause fever.
2. Non-Infectious Fever
Connective tissue diseases, such as rheumatic fever, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, and Kawasaki disease, can also cause fever. Additionally, dehydration fever, drug fever, heatstroke, tumors, leukemia, and central fever after cranial trauma are all classified as non-infectious fever.
