Features: The Collected Sayings of Confucius is a compendious work of excerpts. On the surface, each chapter seems to be randomly selected from various books, with different viewpoints and a seemingly chaotic arrangement. However, in reality, it has been meticulously planned by the editor, categorized into volumes, and analyzed in a systematic manner, making the structure clear. The entire book is divided into fourteen categories: Exhortation to Learning, Filial Piety as the Foundation, Five Temperaments, The Six Arts, Principal Virtues, Ministerial Arts, Interpersonal Relations, On People, On Governance, Knowledge of the Natural World, Chronicles of Events, Prophecies, and Fables. Since the sections on The Six Arts, Chronicles of Events, and Fables are too lengthy, they are each divided into two volumes, totaling seventeen volumes. These seventeen volumes can be analyzed from five perspectives. This book provides annotations and translations for the entire Collected Sayings of Confucius. Confucius was the founder of ancient Chinese Confucianism and was revered by successive rulers as the "Great Sage, Lord of Culture and Propagator of Virtue" and the "Preeminent Teacher." Confucianism became the dominant ideology of feudal society for thousands of years.
