How to do an enema for a toddler

Patient's question:

What kinds of diseases can pediatric surgery treat, and which symptoms belong to pediatric internal medicine? How do you perform an enema for young children?

Doctor's answer:

(1) Prepare all necessary items and proceed to the bedside. Patient preparation and environmental preparation are the same as for large-volume enemas.
(2) Lubricate the rectal tube, connect the enema syringe to the tube, expel air, and clamp the tube. Insert the tube 7–10 cm into the rectum, then release the clamp to allow the solution to flow in completely. After the enema is complete, inject 5–10 ml of warm water.
(3) Clamp the tube tightly and withdraw it. Instruct the patient to retain the solution for 10–20 minutes before defecating.
