Patient's question:
Child has been occasionally nosebleeding recently without seeing a doctor, not sure what's wrong? Hope the doctor can give some advice on what to do. Hasn't used any medicine yet, is it due to heat? Should I see a doctor?Doctor's answer:
The most common cause of nosebleeds in children is dry nasal mucosa, which leads to the rupture of capillaries and bleeding. In this case, the amount of bleeding is usually small and can be stopped on its own or by applying a cold towel to the bridge of the nose. Another common cause is the habit of children picking their noses, which damages the nasal mucosa and causes bleeding. Additionally, bleeding can be caused by blood disorders, such as thrombocytopenia, leukemia, or aplastic anemia.
