Features: Government Economics is one of the core courses for related disciplines in public administration and holds great importance. However, in contrast to the booming development of public administration majors and MPA programs in China, this course faces the challenge of finding suitable textbooks in actual teaching. To meet the urgent needs of undergraduate teaching, after years of exploration, we have compiled this textbook. In China, Government Economics is an emerging discipline and has yet to form a complete theoretical system. Considering the characteristics of public administration curriculum design and our understanding of Government Economics itself, we believe this textbook should provide a comprehensive and systematic explanation of its fundamental issues. The renowned American economist Joseph E. Stiglitz argues that the main topics of Government Economics include: , to clarify the activities that the public sector should engage in and how these activities are organized; second, to understand and predict the full outcomes of government economic activities as much as possible; and third, to evaluate various government economic policies. These three topics constitute the main issues of Government Economics, covering a broad scope and rich content. This book approaches these topics from three major aspects, aiming to elaborate on them comprehensively and systematically. Chapters 1–5 focus on explaining the rationale and basis for government economic behavior. Chapters 6–10 introduce the main economic activities of the government at both macro and micro levels. Chapters 11–17 analyze government fiscal revenues and expenditures in detail. It can be said that elaborating on the economic behavior of the government comprehensively and systematically is the goal pursued in this book. Based on the repositioning of the relationship between government and the market, and grounded in the new theoretical achievements of economics and public administration, this book comprehensively explains the rationale and basis for government economic activities, introduces the main government economic behaviors at both macro and micro levels, and specifically focuses on analyzing China's fiscal revenues and expenditures, demonstrating strong systematicity. The analysis of government regulation and related economic and fiscal policies in China reflects considerable novelty.
