It aligns closely with the teaching schedule. For the convenience of readers, the annotations focus on clarifying the text and are kept concise and to the point. In some cases, multiple interpretations are listed for reference. Brief introductions to the authors' lives and achievements are provided, generally adopting conventional views. This book is one of the textbooks for the ancient Chinese literature course at the Central Radio and Television University. In teaching, it is used in conjunction with Outlines of the History of Chinese Literature, published by Peking University Press. Due to significant changes in the class hours and teaching syllabus for the ancient Chinese literature course compared to the 1982 Chinese Language and Literature course, this book was revised and reannotated based on Selected Works of Ancient Chinese Literature, which was reviewed and approved by Professor Feng Zhongyun of the Classical Literature Teaching and Research Section of the Department of Chinese at Peking University. The book is now divided into three volumes.
