Features: "The New Graduate English Course (Reading Skills Volume)" is one of the research projects jointly developed by the Jiangsu Provincial Association of College Foreign Language Teaching and Peking University Press. This project was led by Professors Li Xiaoxiang and Zou Changzheng of Southeast University, and completed in collaboration with experienced teachers from Jiangsu Main Campus who have long been engaged in graduate English teaching. The project spanned three years, and it is with great pleasure that we recommend this achievement to fellow educators in graduate English teaching and English learners. This series of textbooks also includes "The New Graduate English Course (Listening and Speaking Volume)," "The New Graduate English Course (Academic Writing Volume)," and "The New Graduate English Course (Study Partner English Exam Training)."
To meet the important needs of national graduate public English teaching and quality education in the 21st century, Peking University Press proudly launches "The New Graduate English Course (Reading Skills Volume)" (the entire series will also include the Listening and Speaking Volume, Academic Writing Volume, and English Exam Training Volume). It is primarily intended for the English teaching of non-English major graduate students in universities and colleges (especially in science and engineering fields), featuring the following four key characteristics:
1. Material Design—Reflecting the needs and interests of contemporary college students, emphasizing the diversity of genres, and balancing current and classic texts.
2. Content Design—Addressing students' weak areas, showcasing the transformation of reading skills and abilities, and highlighting the role of international communication.
3. Exercise Design—Moving away from the old language-centered model, focusing on reading skills, and emphasizing the theoretical and practical aspects of skill training and discourse teaching, with lively and engaging exercise formats.
4. Vocabulary Design—Highlighting multiple vocabulary training methods, integrating vocabulary learning with reading practice.
The entire textbook features an innovative and practical layout, natural language, and is an ideal teaching material for public English education for graduate students in the new era.
