Features: Pathophysiology is a science that studies the patterns and mechanisms of disease occurrence, development, and outcome, focusing on functional and metabolic changes in diseased organisms. Mastering pathophysiology lays a foundation for further studies in clinical medicine, pharmacy, and preventive medicine. With the vigorous development of medical education and the continuous deepening of educational reform, pathophysiology textbooks published domestically have gradually been seriesized to meet the learning needs of medical students of different academic terms. The edition of our "Pathophysiology" has been used for 5 years and has been well-received by a large number of students from higher vocational medical colleges and the medical departments of the Central Radio and Television University. Now, based on the original book, we have revised it. In terms of organization, in addition to retaining the original chapters, we have added hypertension and diabetes, which severely threaten human health, as representatives of vascular and endocrine system pathophysiology. To meet the requirements of 3-year medical vocational education, we have summarized the content of each chapter at the beginning of each chapter and proposed learning objectives for key points, categorized into mastery, familiarity, and understanding. In terms of teaching content, we have supplemented some new developments in modern medicine, and in terms of expression, we strive to make the language concise and clear, facilitating teachers' lectures and students' comprehension and memorization. Additionally, the book lists some English terms to help students familiarize themselves with the English terminology of pathophysiology. Clinical case analysis has also been added to each chapter to enable students to integrate basic theory with clinical practice at an early stage. This book serves as a teaching material for students of higher vocational medical colleges, various part-time and adult education medical programs to study pathophysiology, and also provides some assistance for teachers in teaching guidance. Accompanying this textbook is the second edition of "Study Guide for Pathophysiology," which is designed to facilitate students' self-study, review, and assessment of learning outcomes.
