Features: The series "Studies on Literary Schools in Ancient China" has been published by Wuhan University Press. This 8-volume series is a major project achievement of Wuhan University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences, edited by Professor Chen Wenxin of the School of Literature at Wuhan University. It includes works such as Chen Wenxin's "The Emergence and Development of Literary School Consciousness in China," Chen Shunzhi's "Studies on the Eastern Jin Xuan Poetry School," Sun Donglin's "Studies on the Gongti Poetry School," Xiong Lihui's "On the Ming-Qing Prose School," and Liu Liangming's "Studies on the Schools of Modern Novel Theory and Criticism." Many of these studies are at the forefront of research both in China and abroad. This series offers a fresh perspective and interpretation of the vast body of ancient literature, opening up a new path for the study of ancient literature. This book abandons the previous practice of categorizing theoretical criticism based on the political affiliations of theorists instead of their theoretical attributes, and divides modern novel theory and criticism into five schools according to their theoretical and critical characteristics.
