Features: This hydraulic textbook is primarily written for students majoring in water conservancy and river engineering in higher industrial colleges. Other majors, such as civil engineering, road and bridge engineering, and water resources and environmental protection, can selectively use the content based on teaching needs. The writing principle of this book is to ensure theoretical foundations while carefully selecting content, making basic principles and physical concepts clearer and more focused, which is more beneficial for teaching. On the basis of improving students' analytical and problem-solving abilities, some cutting-edge content in the discipline is appropriately added to serve the cultivation of broad-based, high-quality professionals in the 21st century. Hydraulics is a fundamental technical course. Some chapters, such as wave theory and movable-bed hydraulics, are left for relevant specialized courses and are not discussed here to accommodate the need for reduced class hours. To facilitate teaching arrangements and make the book structure more compact and the expression more fluent, content originally divided into two chapters has been combined into one, such as flow patterns and head loss, uniform and non-uniform flow in open channels, and pipelines and non-uniform flow in open channels. Water environmental protection is increasingly becoming a global concern. Therefore, on the basis of primarily elaborating traditional hydraulic theory and methods, the basic theories of hydraulic transport of mass and heat—theory of incompressible variable-density flow and heterogeneous mixing and diffusion theory—are added. At the same time, the method focuses on the main stream analysis, supplemented appropriately with flow field analysis. To adapt to the trend of the application of electronic computers in hydraulic calculations, examples using computer calculations are introduced in parts such as pipe networks, water surface profiles of steady flow in open channels, and non-uniform flow in pipelines and open channels, along with corresponding exercises. A certain number of examples and exercises are selected for each chapter according to teaching needs. All references are placed at the end of the book and arranged by author's pinyin and chronological order.
