Features: Project management is an emerging discipline that has recently risen and gained widespread promotion and application. Since the advent of the information society and the knowledge economy era, project management has undergone significant development. Modern project management differs from traditional project management, with the main differences being two. The first is that modern project management has its own systematic knowledge system, which includes nine project management knowledge areas such as project scope, project schedule, project cost, project quality, project risk, project communication, project procurement, project integration, and project human resources. In contrast, traditional project management only focuses on three specialized knowledge areas: project cost, project schedule, and project quality management. The second difference is that the application scope of modern project management has expanded beyond the narrow scope of traditional project management, such as construction projects, defense projects, and engineering projects, to areas where various types of projects can be applied. Modern project management theory holds that all one-time, unique, and uncertain work falls within the realm of projects and thus requires modern project management.
