The book is divided into two volumes: "The Charm of Ink" and "The Radiance of Oil," featuring over 500 works by more than 220 painters from China and abroad. Most of the legendary masterpieces of beauty portraits and influential modern works are included. When it comes to Chinese beauty legends, names like "Xi Shi washing sand," "Diaochan bowing to the moon," "Zhaojun leaving the frontier," and "the Empress stepping into the bath" come to mind. In China's 5,000-year history, they have woven tales of poignant emotions, tender sorrow, and endless admiration. This book gathers portraits of figures like Xi Shi, Diaochan, Zhaojun, Yang Guifei, the Luo River Goddess, Chang'e, the Twin Beauties (Xiaojiao), Zhu Wenjun, Wu Zetian, Honglian, Li Huimeng, Li Qingzhao, Su Xiaoxiao, Xue Tao, Li Shishi, Chen Yuanyuan, Li Xiangjun, Dong Xiaowan, and Xiangfei, among others—each exuding charm and elegance. "Beauty Scroll" is prefaced by Xia Shuqiqi. It is edited by Dr. Zou Wen, Associate Professor of the School of Arts and Crafts at Tsinghua University. Seventeen renowned scholars from China's art community have contributed to the collection, selection, authentication, photography, and writing of the works. After three years of collaboration, they completed this book.
