This is the third edition of Ultrasound Medicine, rewritten by 57 new and experienced ultrasound medicine experts based on the second edition. The third edition has removed some outdated content from the second edition and added new chapters such as three-dimensional ultrasound, cranial ultrasound, intravascular ultrasound, epicardial ultrasound, stress echocardiography, ultrasound diagnosis of various specific cardiomyopathies, left ventricular contrast echocardiography and myocardial contrast echocardiography, interventional ultrasound techniques for various organs, and new ultrasound therapy techniques, as well as the authors' new experiences and the latest developments in the field of ultrasound medicine. The book consists of four parts, 55 chapters, and approximately 2.7 million words, with over 1,500 black-and-white illustrations and more than 140 color illustrations.
Part I is an introduction to ultrasound medicine, covering the scope, diagnostics, therapeutics, medical engineering, and history of ultrasound medicine. Part II focuses on the fundamentals of ultrasound medicine, including acoustic principles, ultrasound instrument engineering and diagnostic principles, as well as an overview of various types of ultrasound diagnostic instruments. Part III is clinical ultrasound diagnostics, which elaborates in detail on diagnostic methods for various diseases, as well as the application of new techniques such as interventional ultrasound and ultrasound tissue characterization. Part IV covers ultrasound therapy, including the principles of ultrasound therapy, ultrasound-electrotherapy, ultrasound drug permeation therapy, ultrasound lithotripsy, ultrasound cancer treatment, ultrasound contraception, and ultrasound surgery.
At the end of the book, there is a bilingual (Chinese-English) glossary of ultrasound medical terms and a Chinese index. Compared to the second edition, this edition has been improved in both breadth and depth, not only reflecting the current level of ultrasound medicine in China but also showcasing the progress of ultrasound medicine worldwide.
