Features: The Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China (abbreviated as the Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2000 edition) has been compiled in accordance with the design plan and requirements determined by the Second Pharmacopoeia Commission after more than four years of effort. It was reviewed and approved by the plenary meeting of the Second Pharmacopoeia Commission and approved for publication by the Ministry of Agriculture. It is the second edition of the Pharmacopoeia since the founding of the country. The Chinese Pharmacopoeia is the national standard for veterinary drugs in China, a technical regulation for veterinary drug quality management, and a legal technical basis jointly followed by departments involved in the production, operation, use, inspection, and supervision of veterinary drugs. The 2000 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia is divided into two parts: Part I includes 469 types of chemical drugs, antibiotics, biological products, and various preparations, with 132 new additions; Part II includes 656 types of traditional Chinese medicinal materials and compound preparations, with 179 new additions. Each part has its own General Provisions, Appendices, and Indexes. Modern analytical techniques are further expanded in this edition of the Pharmacopoeia, with significant increases in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), thin-layer chromatography (TLC), etc., compared to the previous edition. Due to growing concern over drug residues in food-producing animals, this edition of the Pharmacopoeia has specified withdrawal periods for veterinary drugs based on domestic and international data, and these will be gradually increased in future revisions. With the improvement of people's living standards, the number of pets has been increasing year by year. To meet the needs of pet medication, this edition of the Pharmacopoeia has appropriately increased dosages for small animals.
