Atresia of the ear: Also known as bag-shaped ear, it is a rare congenital ear deformity. The characteristics are that, except for the normal earlobe, the skin in front of the ear is connected to the lateral skin, the cartilage structure of the auricle is basically normal but buried in the skin and cannot protrude normally, the cranio-auricular groove disappears, and a normal auricle shape can appear when lifted or pressed, but it retracts when relaxed. Sometimes there is angulation deformity of the superior crus of the antitragus and overlapping of the helical cartilage.Atresia of the ear is a rare congenital auricle deformity. It can be seen in both unilateral and bilateral cases, with more males than females affected. The characteristics are that, except for the normal earlobe, the upper part of the auricle is buried in the subcutaneous tissue behind the ear, without a clear postauricular groove. The cartilage structure of the auricle is basically normal or underdeveloped and buried in the skin, unable to protrude normally. This deformity can be temporarily corrected by gently lifting the hidden cartilage with fingers, but when the hand is released, the pulled auricle naturally retracts to its original position, hiding beneath the skin. The surgical principle for atresia of the ear is to reposition the auricular cartilage and create a cranio-auricular groove.
