Zhou Fohai was a significant figure on the political stage during the Republican era. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, he followed Wang Jingwei in escaping to Chongqing and established a pseudoregime in Nanjing, becoming one of the most powerful and prominent figures in the puppet regime after Wang Jingwei. Due to his key positions, the content he recorded was extremely extensive, including negotiations conducted in secret with Japan, the process and thoughts behind his escape from Chongqing, and the details of various meetings within the Wang Group. It also documented the handling of military, financial, diplomatic, and intelligence activities. The complete collection includes diaries from 1937, 1938, 1940–1945, and 1947, which represent all the existing diaries of Zhou Fohai that have been found to date. These diaries hold significant historical value.
