Features: The "D" series is a work themed around the Western European monster "Succubus." The stories in this series primarily depict the love-hate relationships between monsters from other worlds and humans, and it is also the author's debut work published under his real name. The aristocrats who reign over humans from above—vampires—face an inexplicable decline in their own kind, and as their race perishes, they too gradually fade away. However, a portion of them, along with the demons they created—artificial monsters—survive in the remote corners of the border, instilling fear and dread in people. Dragons, demonic mists, and malevolent spirits—humans are left to suffer at their mercy. This gives rise to the birth of experts in dealing with monsters—"Hunters." Among them, the half-vampire, a recognized hybrid of aristocrats and humans, is considered the ideal vampire hunter. Thus, at some point, the name of an incredibly handsome young man begins to appear in people's eyes.
Outside this border village stands a special institution where most of the residents work. Nearby, on a hill, lies a city inhabited by aristocrats. Now, only a pile of machine ruins remains there. Additionally, ten years ago, a child went missing and has never been found. Now, vampires have appeared in this village, and the frightened villagers decide to hire Vampire Hunter D to solve the problem.
