Features: The first batch of 54 volumes of the "Contemporary Collection of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics" has achieved great success since its launch in September 2000. The initial print run of 5,000 sets quickly sold out, requiring a second printing of 6,000 sets in October. Publishing such a large-scale collection of linguistic works within such a short period is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its release, many institutions and individuals have rushed to order it. Graduate and undergraduate students regard the Collection as a valuable guide and companion, while teachers of all ages view it as a source of knowledge renewal. Practice has proven that the Collection, published by FLTRP, has been widely praised by the Chinese linguistics and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove to promote the development of linguistic and foreign language teaching and research in China. Building on the success of the first batch of 54 volumes, FLTRP is now launching the second batch of 58 volumes. The second batch of the Collection features five key characteristics: First, it consists of 58 original English works, covering 33 disciplines, an increase from the first batch's 26. The newly added disciplines include the history of linguistics, linguistic philosophy, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and grammaticalization theories, thereby more comprehensively meeting readers' needs. Second, it includes influential works by renowned contemporary linguists such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority. Third, it incorporates classic linguistic works published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press. Fourth, it still includes expert prefaces, with a stronger team of experts than the first batch. Fifth, the Collection is prefaced by the world-famous linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the renowned Chinese linguist Professor Jia Xianhan. This Collection is a large-scale, open-ended series that will play a positive role in advancing linguistic and foreign language teaching and research in China. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce high-quality and influential works in linguistics and applied linguistics, continuously offering the latest and most significant contributions to readers.
