What causes pediatric rheumatism?

Patient's question:

What's wrong with juvenile idiopathic arthritis?

Doctor's answer:

This disease has a certain genetic tendency. It can affect various systems of the body, with the primary lesions located in bursae.
Clinically, it is characterized by irregular fever, joint (especially small joints) swelling and pain, and may also be accompanied by rash, hepatosplenomegaly, lymphadenopathy, myocarditis, and other manifestations. There is no obvious seasonal pattern, with slightly higher incidence in winter and spring. The incidence rate is higher in cold regions compared to temperate and tropical areas. It is more common in children aged 2–3 years and 9–12 years, with girls being more affected than boys. The disease tends to persist, and with appropriate treatment, it can remit by adulthood. However, in a few cases, it may continue to flare up, leading to joint deformities in the late stage, and in rare cases, it may result in disability.
