What are the symptoms of Wilms' tumor in children?

Patient's question:

The child had been having frequent fevers recently, with high temperatures lasting for several days. I thought it was due to low immunity, so I took him to the hospital to buy medicine. But the check-up revealed it was a Wilms' tumor, and I was completely scared.

Doctor's answer:

Wilms' tumor, unlike adult renal embryonal tumors, is less commonly associated with hematuria. The first sign that attracts attention in children is a mass in the abdomen. Renal embryonal tumors can occur in any part of the kidney, and the renal pelvis is often compressed and deformed. The clinical manifestations of Wilms' tumor are not complex but are quite consistent. The tumor surface is smooth, moderately hard, and painless. Located in the upper abdominal flanks, it can extend beyond the midline, pushing abdominal organs to one side. In a few cases, anemia and urinary abnormalities may occur. Hematuria is occasionally seen, often accompanied by hypertension.
