Due to the collection being a focused series of famous pieces, no existing collection institution in China could provide ready-made specimens. Therefore, the committee organized over forty people to undergo five years of arduous work, conducting stock surveys, artifact collection, purchase negotiations, and coordination with national, provincial, and municipal cultural relics and museum institutions. After five years of meticulous preparation, the renowned "Treasures of Chinese Ancient Coins" was finally launched at the beginning of the new century. Major news media extensively covered its promotion and reporting. The success of this endeavor hinges on special circumstances and the dedicated efforts of special individuals. As a result, the relevant institutions decided that the 2,000 sets of "Treasures of Chinese Ancient Coins" to be issued this time will be numbered and will not be reissued once sold out. Portions of the numbered sets have been presented as national gifts to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as well as to the Cultural Counselors of embassies from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Russia in China.
