Features: Once upon a time, a song titled "Northeasterners Are Living" sparked a flash animation craze online. Xue Cun, this musician already dubbed a "musical genius" by foreign media, truly became a hero in the digital realm. Without promotion, marketing, or hype, he rose to fame overnight, thanks to his unique musical style——musical commentary. To this day, if someone still doesn’t know Xue Cun, it at least reveals three things: he’s old, he’s not trendy enough, or he has too few friends. Since the turn of winter and spring in 2001, the Xue Cun phenomenon spread like the flu or the Melissa virus, rapidly infecting the nation and even the world through the internet. Xue Cun became a "phenomenal figure," and the "Xue Cun Craze" became the "Xue Cun Phenomenon." This was a star who rose without newspapers or television, nurtured by the hands and hard work of the common people! After becoming a big star, he was indeed chased by TV and newspapers, with reports flying everywhere.ly, he didn’t forget the people, taking the time amidst his busy schedule to write the book Cuihua, Up the Pickles——Xue Cun’s Autobiography. The book is divided into three parts:
Part one, he honestly recounts his hard-knocks upbringing, revealing many heartbreaking stories, but also some joyous experiences that made him beam. He lists his friends and foes, pouring his heart out to share his understanding and pursuit of art. Xue Cun had long been secretive about his past, but this is the most complete "Xue Cun history" to date.
Part two is a "critique" of the then-hot "Xue Cun Phenomenon." No matter how harsh his words, he wouldn’t get angry, even laying out every song he’d created for people to judge freely.
Part three contains interviews with famous figures in the arts, including Jin Zhaojun, Yingda, Cai Ming, Huang Jiwei, and Ying Zhuang—Xue Cun’s "friends." These "friends" speak bluntly, sometimes without restraint. To make the book more enjoyable, Xue Cun includes numerous quirky images and Flash screenshots of his songs.
The greatest gift, however, is that he entrusted his record company to collect all the excellent Flash works related to his songs, presenting his newly produced MTV in the karaoke-style VCD format preferred by the working masses, completely free with the book!!
