The Comprehensive Collection of Purple Treasures on Laryngeal Diseases (Hou Zheng Quan Ke Zi Zhen Ji) is a specialized work on laryngeal diseases published in the mid-Qing Dynasty (1840). Since the division of laryngeal medicine into specialized fields began in the Yuan Dynasty, and given the vastness of China's territory, various schools of specialized works on laryngeal diseases emerged. The authorship is attributed to Yanshan Dou Shi (the original text) and Yunyang Zhu Xiangyu (the compiled version). It is considered a representative work of the Yanshan Dou family, known for acupuncture and surgery, from the Yuan and Ming dynasties, and was later organized and compiled by Zhu Xiangyu of the Qing Dynasty. The book is divided into two volumes. The first volume preserves famous prescriptions for treating laryngeal sores and carbuncles from the early Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as effective small needle knives and topical treatments such as blowing, applying, rubbing, and applying powders, reflecting a rich array of laryngeal disease treatments. The second volume introduces 72 types of laryngeal and tongue diseases, with detailed explanations of their locations, appearances, diagnostic key points, and basic prescriptions through illustrated annotations. The text is concise, informative, and visually engaging, making it easy to learn and master. This book is one of the earlier specialized works on 72 types of laryngeal diseases and holds a certain position in the history of laryngeal medicine. It is an important reference for studying laryngeal diseases.
