Patient's question:
Dear doctors:How come a 3-month-old baby drools? What should we do? Is there a good solution? Thank you!
Doctor's answer:
Hello, drooling in babies is mostly a normal physiological phenomenon. At 6 to 7 months, babies start teething and begin eating solid foods. Food often stimulates nerves, salivary glands, and other areas, increasing saliva production. Additionally, babies have small oral cavities and may not swallow or regulate saliva promptly, leading to excessive saliva accumulation and drooling. As babies grow and their oral functions improve, this drooling will naturally subside, so treatment is generally not required.
