How to solve the problem of difficult bowel movements

Patient's question:

My child is almost 3 months old and has been having difficulty defecating recently. The stool that comes out is not dry. My baby is exclusively breastfed. How can this be resolved?

Doctor's answer:

Constipation in children can be resolved using painless methods. (1) Gently rub the child's abdomen with the palm of your hand, starting from the navel and moving in a clockwise direction. Massage 10 times, rest for 5 minutes, then massage another 10 times. Repeat this process 3 times. (2) Have the child lie on their back and perform leg flexion and extension movements by lifting and lowering both legs, repeating 10 times. Then, do the same with one leg for 10 times. (3) Apply an oily topical medication (such as tetracycline ointment) to the child's anal opening, place a soft paper under it, and gently push and press the anus, gradually doing this 10 times. Usually, the child will soon feel the urge to defecate or have a bowel movement.
