Features: "The Peninsula War" is also known by another name in Spanish, "The War of Independence." In fact, it is true. In 1807, Napoleon first invaded Portugal, and then attempted to annex the entire Spain. As a result, both the Portuguese people and the Spanish people faced a life-or-death issue: whether they could maintain their national independence and freedom. When writing this book, the following three principles were followed: the accuracy of the materials, the continuity of the narrative, and the fluency of the language. It is also aimed at making the content of this manuscript conform to the historical facts of the time, while striving to make the exposition coherent from beginning to end, vivid and specific, and able to outline a complete and clear picture for the readers. At the beginning of the book and before each chapter, small interludes have been carefully arranged. They are all from various historical records, but in my hands, they appear in the form of stories, which may give readers a fresh feeling. Literature and history are originally closely linked. Without a historical background, how can literature exist? Similarly, if history lacks the accompaniment of literature, how can it come to life? In this regard, historians and literary scholars can fully work together to co-create.
