Features: The history of modern China is so heavy, and the severity and frequency of its national disasters may not be inferior to any other period in Chinese history marked by a troubled destiny. The profound sense of humiliation, the desire to discard the old, and the passionate idealism that were awakened amidst social upheaval and cultural conflict produced both positive and negative, heart-stirring consequences, which are rarely seen in world history. Against this grand and magnificent backdrop, sincere and sensitive artists often cannot avoid the pressures of the times, especially when they clearly realize this pressure and attempt to consciously respond to it. The close connection and the complex contradictions between the artist and the background then exhibit a remarkable brilliance. This is precisely what writers and historians are most interested in. "Pan Tianshou Painting and Calligraphy Collection" was compiled by an editorial committee and appraisal team composed of relevant experts and scholars, invited by the Pan Tianshou Memorial Hall and Zhejiang People's Fine Arts Publishing House. After a year and a half of effort, works were widely collected both domestically and internationally, rigorously selected, meticulously organized, and published in phases. Each painting and calligraphy work was then meticulously documented according to international standards before the final version was established, thereby naming this collection as the authoritative basis for the appraisal of Pan Tianshou's works and the benchmark reference for Pan Tianshou studies.
