Excerpt: 13 Six Magic Words for Communication Positive communication language is often an important tool for reducing disagreements, avoiding conflicts, and even achieving consensus and win-win outcomes. In high school, a female teacher once told us that if we often used three phrases, we would be unstoppable. The first is "Thank you!": No matter how small or big the matter, or how old or young the person, always humbly express gratitude for receiving others' "gifts." The second is "I'm sorry": If you have offended someone or made a mistake, immediately apologize—it shows responsibility; when seeking advice from others, because you are taking up their time, you should also say "I'm sorry." We were somewhat confused and asked a mischievous question—on a bus, if someone stepped on your foot, should you apologize to them? The teacher affirmed this, and we asked, "Why?" "Because you are standing in the position where they need to stand," she replied. Her answer has stayed with me to this day, what an extraordinary attitude of humility. The third is "Can I help you?": This is proactive and positive. People who are capable and willing to assist others are actually the greatest beneficiaries themselves, because they are the happiest people and always the most welcome ones. In just three short phrases, we have benefited immensely in the process of personal growth and in how we treat others.
Six Magic Words for Communication In my research on interpersonal communication, I have also deeply felt the harm of harsh words. Positive and proactive communication language is indeed something we should learn and apply frequently, becoming an excellent habit in our daily lives and work. Below, I summarize and compare some common phrases for your reference in communication:
(1) The one word that is "unimportant" – "I." The one word that is "important" – "You."
(2) The two words that are "bad" – "You all," "not okay," "won't do." The two words that are "good" – "We," "very good," "certainly."
(3) The three words that are "wrong" – "You are wrong," "don't know," "impossible," "I insist," "I oppose," "stupid," "really annoying," "makes me angry," "you don't understand." The three words that are "right" – "I am wrong," "please forgive me," "you are amazing," "fantastic," "please advise," "very happy," "possible," "don't be shy," "I'm sorry."
(4) The four words that "hurt" – "hopeless," "clumsy," "repulsive," "extremely disgusting." The four words that "please" – "highly commendable," "brilliant," "energetic," "extraordinary."

The above are just a small part of our daily language.
