Features: With the continuous deepening of human understanding of life, health, and disease, the modern medical model and patient-centered holistic nursing have emerged. In recent years, many traditional Chinese medicine hospitals and integrated Chinese and Western medicine hospitals in China have actively practiced holistic nursing in line with the country's conditions, successfully integrating the unique holistic concept and syndrome differentiation-based nursing from traditional Chinese medicine into nursing practice. They have accumulated rich clinical nursing experience and gradually formed a distinctive theory of TCM holistic nursing. On this basis, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine has planned and organized the writing of this series of TCM Holistic Nursing Guidance Books, aiming to explore a scientific and systematic path for TCM holistic nursing with Chinese characteristics to maximize the growing demand of the Chinese people for nursing services.
The TCM Holistic Nursing Guidance Books: Standard Nursing Care Plans for TCM Surgery is divided into six chapters, introducing common diseases in various specialties of TCM surgery, including surgery, dermatology, orthopedics, hemorrhoidology, ophthalmology, and otolaryngology. The writing style focuses on common diseases in TCM surgery as entries. For each disease, it briefly describes its concept and etiology, then lists common nursing diagnoses and proposes relevant factors, main manifestations, expected outcomes, and nursing measures and evaluations. The writing strives to integrate the holistic concept and syndrome differentiation-based nursing of traditional Chinese nursing into a patient-centered holistic nursing model guided by modern nursing perspectives, with a framework based on the nursing process. It particularly emphasizes the application of TCM theory in identifying and analyzing problems in nursing diagnoses and related factors. In terms of nursing measures, it focuses on introducing the methods and techniques of syndrome differentiation-based nursing in TCM, while also incorporating the strengths of modern nursing theory and skills to fully reflect the characteristics of integrated Chinese and Western medicine in clinical nursing. This book has broad guidance, reference, and operational value.
Since holistic nursing is a new working model, and TCM holistic nursing still needs further standardization and improvement, this book emphasizes a combination of practicality and scientific rigor. Its content is easy to understand, making it a practical tool for TCM hospitals to carry out holistic nursing in surgical departments under new circumstances. It is also suitable for reference in nursing education at universities and vocational colleges.
