Features: The Advanced Reading Course can be used for one semester of teaching and is divided into sixteen lessons. Considering that each week has three teaching sessions, each lesson is divided into READING A and READING B (some lessons include READING C) parts, with most lessons containing articles related to the theme. In addition to introducing background information on politics, culture, and teaching language points, teachers can also guide students to discuss certain topics and provide necessary guidance on students' oral and written responses. Furthermore, at the end of each lesson, two supplementary materials are appended: BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE and FURTHER READING. The BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE section collects materials that introduce the political, cultural, educational, and social backgrounds of the UK and the US, aiming for practicality rather than comprehensiveness. The FURTHER READING section is still selected from UK and US newspapers and magazines. This is because readers have limited opportunities to directly engage with English newspapers and magazines, and it is also intended to expand their reading volume and cultivate their interest in reading. If necessary, teachers can also use some articles from FURTHER READING in class or combine some articles with similar themes for discussion and analysis.
