How is the small choroidal fissure on the right treated?

Patient's question:

My daughter is 7 years old and was checked in the hospital for a small choroidal fissure cyst on the right side. There is significant enlargement of both lateral ventricles, and she has right mastoiditis. Is this condition serious? How should it be treated? It has just been a week since the onset.

Doctor's answer:

Choroidal fissure cysts are a rare congenital benign inflammatory condition, classified as neuroepithelial cysts, with an incidence rate of less than 1% of intracranial cysts. I don't know what your main symptoms are, but such cysts generally do not produce clinical diagnostic symptoms. A very few reports suggest that this condition may be associated with clinical manifestations such as epilepsy (grand mal seizures). Therefore, if your diagnosis is confirmed, treatment is generally not required. You can undergo periodic follow-up examinations of head imaging under close observation, as drug treatment is ineffective and thus unnecessary.
