Features: The Zhongkao (senior high school entrance examination) is an exam with selective functions. The question papers from various regions across the country not only include a large number of basic questions but also incorporate some comprehensive questions designed to differentiate candidates and determine their level of proficiency, commonly referred to as "challenging questions." Comprehensive questions are beneficial for talent selection at the national level, reflect the demands of senior high schools for incoming freshmen, and significantly influence the scores of each candidate, making them the focal point of competition in Zhongkao. Therefore, how to organize comprehensive question review and how to improve the ability to solve comprehensive questions are practical concerns that both teachers and students pay close attention to in their exam preparation. In light of this, we have invited Mr. Li Fanglie, a distinguished mathematics teacher from Beijing middle schools, and Mr. Peng Lin, an outstanding young teacher in Beijing and a recipient of the first prize in the National Young Mathematics Teachers' Teaching Excellence Competition, to co-author "Selected Challenging Questions for Zhongkao Mathematics." In recent years, there have been some new trends and phenomena in Zhongkao mathematics question-setting, with more application-based and inquiry-based problems appearing. Open-ended problems designed to cultivate students' inquiry skills have become a hot topic in Zhongkao. These trends are fully and systematically addressed in this book. This book not only compiles the essence of comprehensive questions from Zhongkao across various regions in recent years and the latest developments but also represents the crystallization of their years of teaching experience. It reflects their vision of guiding students to transition from knowledge-based learning to skill-based learning in their junior high school review teaching.
