Author: Editorial Committee of the Handbook of Modern Mathematics
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2001-02-01
Features: As a mathematical reference work, what characteristics should such a massive handbook possess? During the writing process, the publisher and we reached a consensus that the handbook should be scientific, advanced, practical, standardized, and concise. Over 200 contributors and reviewers worked tirelessly according to these features and requirements, and we would like to thank their collaborative efforts, which have made the handbook basically reflect the desired characteristics mentioned above. This series is a key publishing project of the National "Nineth Five-Year Plan." For the convenience of readers in selecting and using the handbook, it is published in five volumes, titled "Classical Mathematics," "Modern Mathematics," "Computer Mathematics," "Stochastic Mathematics," and "Economic Mathematics." It should be noted that the categorization of each branch (chapter) is relative, and consideration has been given to balancing the lengths of the individual volumes. For example, the chapter "Monte Carlo Method" could also be included in the "Computer Mathematics" volume.
