What causes babies to spit up milk easily

Patient's question:

The baby (20 days old) spits up easily, has difficulty defecating (cries when trying to poop and strains hard), and sometimes suddenly strains during naps, turning red-faced. What could be the reason?

Doctor's answer:

A 20-day-old baby is experiencing vomiting again. Considerations:
The digestive system is not fully developed, the stomach is in a horizontal position, and the lower esophageal sphincter is (relaxed). Vomiting may recur after slight movement. As the baby grows older and starts walking, the horizontal vomiting symptom will gradually improve.
The baby is experiencing constipation again. Possible reasons include insufficient hot water intake, or the breastfeeding mother consuming greasy or hot foods.
When the baby is napping and straining, their face becomes very red. This is a normal phenomenon during the child's growth and development, and there is no need to worry.
