Features: Dear kindergarten children, respected kindergarten teachers, and parents: Since 1998, when Hai Tian Publishing House (Shenzhen, China) launched the "Preschool English" textbook series, it has been widely welcomed and loved by young children in kindergartens and has also gained recognition and affection from kindergarten English teachers. With the acceleration of global integration, many parents and educators have realized that learning English must start from a young age. As a result, numerous kindergartens across the country have incorporated English as an important teaching content in their educational reforms. To meet market demand and comply with the new "Kindergarten Education Guidance (Trial Version)," Hai Tian Publishing House proudly introduces the new edition of kindergarten English textbooks—"Modern Children's English" (this series consists of 6 volumes, divided into Upper and Lower Grades for Small, Middle, and Large Classes, with one textbook used per semester, making it convenient for teachers to teach and suitable for young children to learn).
This series of textbooks incorporates the strengths of many domestic and international children's English textbooks in its writing. It fully considers the physical and mental development, age characteristics, and features of Chinese children learning a second language, integrating the kindergarten curriculum with carefully selected words, dialogues, songs, games, and sentence patterns that young children love as teaching content. At the same time, teachers adopt a child-centered educational philosophy and an appreciation-based approach, using TPR (Total Physical Response) and joyful learning methods. They meticulously design games that children enjoy, utilize a variety of valuable props, and employ rich body language and enthusiastic teaching to make learning fun. Through dynamic and rhythmic jazz music, children engage in active learning, combining movement and stillness to improve their English skills naturally. This helps cultivate their interest in learning English, enhances their listening, speaking, and confidence, and equips them with the ability to master English, laying a solid foundation for their future studies.
This textbook was developed through long-term teaching practices by the author in over 20 kindergartens of varying levels and sizes, in close collaboration with the illustrations by Teacher Lü Xiaoping. The purpose of this series, "Modern Children's English," is to spark children's natural interest in English without them even realizing they are learning. The series consists of six volumes (8 lessons per volume), with each volume accompanied by a CD (or cassette). The six volumes are divided into Small Class (Upper and Lower), Middle Class (Upper and Lower), and Large Class (Upper and Lower), with the following content:
"Modern Children's English" for Small Classes (Upper and Lower) introduces simple and familiar animal and food words that young children love, using fast-paced songs and chants to focus on cultivating their interest in learning English and training their pronunciation and listening skills.
"Modern Children's English" for Middle Classes (Upper and Lower) selects vocabulary from familiar and beloved things in children's daily lives, as well as words and sentence patterns related to their learning environment, encouraging practical application and fostering a strong interest in learning English. This helps develop children's ability to speak and use English.
"Modern Children's English" for Large Classes (Upper and Lower) focuses on themes related to nature and society, using listening, speaking, singing, games, dialogues, and performances to cultivate children's awareness of understanding and expressing English. This further enhances their English thinking skills and allows them to experience the joy of English in daily life.
Additionally, to encourage children to love science from a young age, the book includes barcodes that are compatible with "light pens" and "language reading machines" produced domestically. When a light pen points to a barcode, the machine reads the corresponding sound, allowing children to learn English at will.
