Features: Driven by the rapid development of science and technology, new methods, structures, processes, materials, products, and equipment are constantly emerging and being applied in the construction of roads and traffic engineering. This has greatly enriched the specialized vocabulary of this technical field. With the implementation of China's policy of opening up to the outside world, the number of domestic road and traffic engineering projects involving foreign interests has been increasing. Project management is gradually aligning with international standards, and opportunities to participate in international bidding competitions and undertake international engineering projects have also become more frequent. This has expanded the scope and breadth of this technical field. Science and technology personnel engaged in road and traffic engineering construction urgently need a convenient and practical Chinese-English/English-Chinese professional dictionary that meets their needs. This book was compiled to fulfill such a requirement.
1. This book includes not only key professional terms such as road engineering, traffic engineering, bridge and culvert engineering, tunnel engineering, structural engineering, engineering machinery, engineering materials, and surveying and mapping but also a selection of general basic technical terms. It places emphasis on collecting the newest vocabulary in this field and also includes terms related to computer technology, engineering management, contract management, bidding and tendering, engineering supervision, cost assessment, financial and insurance, and pollution regulations. The selection of terms aims to be relatively new and comprehensive, while outdated technical terms have been excluded. During the process of compiling the dictionary, special attention was paid to selecting terms from new literature sources.
2. The selected terms are striving for accuracy.
3. Chinese-English terms are arranged in pinyin order, while English-Chinese terms are arranged in alphabetical order. An appendix has been compiled at the end of the book to enhance its practicality. This dictionary will serve as a useful and long-lasting reference tool for owners in the construction market, survey and design units, construction units, and science and technology personnel, project managers, consultants, and evaluators in the consulting and evaluation service system, as well as teachers and students of relevant majors in universities and colleges, and foreign-related engineering technicians and translators.
