Features: Medical history is one of the earliest medical humanities courses offered in medical schools in China, and its role in the humanities education of medical students is becoming increasingly important. However, there is still no national-planned medical history textbook available. In light of this, Peking University Health Science Center (Editor-in-Chief: Zhang Daqing) led the initiative to jointly compile this book with experts and scholars from other institutions engaged in medical history teaching and research. This book breaks the traditional practice of separately writing the histories of Chinese and Western medicine, comparing the different developmental trajectories of traditional and modern medicine to help students gain a more comprehensive and profound understanding of the course of medical development, as well as the essence and value of medicine.
