Features: After the World Health Organization (WHO) introduced the three-step ladder principle for cancer pain relief through expert discussions in the 1980s, they held a special meeting with the Chinese government in China in 1990 to launch the three-step ladder cancer pain relief project. Over the past 11 years, the Ministry of Health and the National Drug Administration of China have issued many documents and taken measures to address the supply issues of narcotics. In 1993, they compiled the "Guiding Principles for Cancer Pain Relief in the Three-Step Ladder" and published it in a formal document. The revised edition of this book was officially published in 1997 and was well-received by leaders at all levels and clinical doctors. In recent years, significant progress has been made in the field of cancer pain relief, and WHO has introduced several new guidelines. Additionally, China has accumulated practical experience in cancer pain relief through practice. Therefore, experts have jointly discussed and revised this book to meet the clinical needs of healthcare professionals. This edition incorporates recent international data and strives to include China's statistical data and clinical practical experience. New chapters have been added, such as routes of administration for analgesics, management of special types of pain, adverse reactions of analgesics, common misconceptions in cancer pain treatment, and discussions, to facilitate readers. In the appendix, newly marketed drugs from recent years have also been added.
