Features: Synonyms are produced in the changes or development of social production and social life. People created a large number of synonyms in order to reflect reality more (detailed), accurate, flexible, and vividly, convey emotions, and exchange ideas. The existence of synonyms is the result of long-term development of human thinking and also a sign of rich vocabulary. Additionally, the proper use of synonyms can make expression more (vivid), accurate, and flexible, avoid the tone or repetition of words, and thus enhance the expressive power of language. This dictionary includes over 4,200 entries of modern Chinese synonyms. When determining entries, the compilers have paid special attention to including as few synonyms with equivalent relationships as possible. At the same time, some idioms also have synonymous relationships, but this dictionary does not include four-character synonymous idioms. Words often have polysemy, and the entries included in this dictionary only cover those with corresponding synonyms. Entries without corresponding synonyms are not included. This dictionary places considerable emphasis on the analysis of semantic distinctions and applicability characteristics. When differentiating meanings, it often uses morpheme analysis methods to help readers achieve a more accurate understanding and apply the words in practice. When differentiating, it attempts to provide brief explanations of the stylistic features, emotional connotations, collocations with other words, or applicability scope of the terms.
