Features: Comparing the Chuci with the Shijing, the progress is very evident. The poems in the Shijing are mostly set in four-character lines, with frequent repetition between chapters, and the chapters are relatively short, with a more simple style. However, the Chuci is different. The Lisao and the Nine Songs are basically in six-character lines, while the Nine Songs are primarily long phrases in five-character lines, with many formal variations. The poems expand in length, rarely using repetition techniques, while the richness of imagination, intensity of emotion, complexity of content, and splendor of style are all significantly different from the works in the Shijing.
