What causes jaundice recurrence

Patient's question:

My child is now 54 days old and jaundice has recurred. What is the reason? Previous treatment and effectiveness: Blue light therapy. What kind of help do you want: Help treat the child's jaundice

Doctor's answer:

Jaundice refers to hyperbilirubinemia, where the clinical manifestation is the elevation of bilirubin in the blood, causing the sclera, skin, mucous membranes, and other tissues and body fluids to appear yellow. When the serum bilirubin concentration is between 17.1 to 34.2 umol/L (1 to 2 mg/dL) but jaundice is not visible to the naked eye, it is called (subclinical jaundice). If the serum bilirubin concentration is below 34.2 umol/L (2 mg/dL), it is called (obvious jaundice). General treatment, if there are high-risk factors for bilirubin encephalopathy, should be given symptomatic treatment. Medication treatment uses enzyme inducers.
