Features: The pronunciation of English words has long been a challenge in English learning, because not all English letters correspond to one sound per letter. Some letters can represent more than one sound, and some letters may have different pronunciations depending on the combination with other letters or their position in a word. While there are some patterns to follow in recognizing the pronunciation of English words, it is still difficult to quickly improve the efficiency of recognizing words. Practice has shown that the difficulty in pronouncing English words lies in the flexible and varied pronunciation of vowel letters. However, once vowel letters form letter combinations with other letters, they generally have more fixed pronunciations. Therefore, using vowel letter combinations as the unit for recognition and memorization is undoubtedly a scientific and reasonable learning method, especially effective for monosyllabic and disyllabic words. This reader is arranged in groups of three words, with the same spelling pattern for each vowel letter combination, differing only in the initial consonant letters. By recognizing words through the method of "sound-form consistency," it achieves the effect of being easy to read and remember, achieving twice the result with half the effort. It is worth mentioning that in a small number of "three-word" combinations, words with different pronunciations are included (marked with an asterisk ), most of which are high-frequency common words. These words are helpful for teachers in compiling pronunciation exercises or for students in completing such exercises. This reader contains approximately 2,500 words, including over 1,800 monosyllabic words and over 600 disyllabic words. Most monosyllabic words and a significant portion of disyllabic words specified in the "English Curriculum Standards" and commonly found in textbooks such as Oxford English and New Century English are included.
