Features: In Buddhism, the Earthly Bodhisattva is known as one of the Four Great Bodhisattvas alongside Manjushri, Samantabhadra, and Avalokite?vara. Manjushri Bodhisattva governs the wisdom of sentient beings, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva oversees all virtuous actions of sentient beings, Avalokite?vara Bodhisattva primarily saves worldly beings, while the Earthly Bodhisattva mainly rescues all "sinful ghosts" in hell and is known as the "Great Vow Earthly Bodhisattva." The Earthly Bodhisattva's Great Vow Sutra mentions ten benefits that can be obtained by worshipping the Earthly Bodhisattva: fertile land, eternal peace in one's home, ancestors reborn in heaven, increased longevity in the present life, fulfillment of desires, protection from water and fire disasters, warding off wasteful expenses, eliminating nightmares, and divine protection when entering or leaving. Additionally, the Earthly Bodhisattva is the ruler of the underworld and oversees the Ten Kings of Hell, thereby controlling the fate of sentient beings after death. People often desire these ten benefits while also fearing falling into hell after death. Therefore, the faith, reverence, and respect for the Earthly Bodhisattva have only grown over time. Like Avalokite?vara Bodhisattva, the Earthly Bodhisattva is one of the most revered Buddhist figures in folk culture.
