The book is divided into two parts: The first part introduces the general situation of Han Chinese residential architecture since the Neolithic Age from the perspective of development. The second part selects several examples from existing materials to illustrate the types of residential architecture from the middle Ming Dynasty to the late Qing Dynasty, which is from the late 15th century to the early 20th century, along with their various characteristics. However, residential architecture introduced by Western countries after the Opium War is not within the scope of this article.
