Features: This glossary is a specialized dictionary dedicated to collecting, interpreting, and introducing various types of ancient and modern urban shop signs and attracting cries in China. It includes approximately 1,000 entries. Given that many of the collected and explained items cannot be fully described in words, a large number of pictorial and documentary materials have been selected, totaling about 800 images. The combination of text and illustrations is a key feature of this glossary. The entries and pictorial materials in this glossary are divided into five categories: (1) Nouns and Terminology (with an appendix on synonyms for hotel industry shop signs), (2) Documentary Materials, (3) Shop Signs of Sedentary Merchants, (4) Shop Signs of itinerant Merchants (with an appendix on attracting tools), and (5) Anecdotes and Folklore.
