Features: With the continuous improvement of English teaching quality in secondary schools, the starting proficiency level for college English has also been generally raising. However, in some universities, a portion of students still encounter difficulties in learning the English Intermediate Course for various reasons, with greater challenges in listening skills. Thus, there is a need for a preparatory course for College English Listening to serve as a transitional curriculum for them.
1. The preparatory listening course for College English is designed in five major sections based on the gap between students' listening proficiency and their vocabulary knowledge, as well as their specific difficulties in grasping the basics of listening.
2. Each section consists of two parts: "Listening and Reading" and "Listening and Practice." The purpose of "Listening and Reading" is to integrate the three dimensions of sound, form, and meaning of words and sentences through repeated listening and reading, allowing students to achieve a unified understanding. The "Listening and Practice" section is designed to reinforce the learning effects of the "Listening and Reading" part by providing exercises that focus on the main content of that section.
3. The training focus of the last two units is selected from common phrases in the Intermediate Listening Course, laying a foundation for students to enter the stage of learning the intermediate-level listening course.
4. Given that the content of this course is concentrated and the difficulty level is relatively low, it can also serve as a supplementary for intensive English-Chinese listening training.
