Features: With the rapid advancement of computer technology, radiotherapy techniques have also been developing at a high speed. Since the inception of radiation oncology, the common goal of clinical radiation oncologists, radiation physicists, and radiation biologists has always been to maximize local tumor control while minimizing radiation damage to normal tissues. With the progress of computer technology, imaging technology, and extensive collaboration across various disciplines in the medical field, this goal is gradually being achieved. This book aims to comprehensively elaborate on the specific applications of precision radiotherapy techniques in the treatment of common malignant tumors, starting from the physical and biological foundations of precision radiotherapy. On one hand, it provides necessary references for clinical radiation therapy engineers, and on the other hand, it lays a certain foundation for further in-depth research on precision radiotherapy.
As a local treatment modality, the purpose of radiotherapy is to continuously improve local tumor control by increasing the dose to the target area and/or reducing radiation damage to surrounding normal tissues, thereby further enhancing survival rates and/or improving quality of life. In recent years, with the rapid development of precision radiotherapy techniques centered on precise localization, precise planning, and precise treatment, the overall efficacy of radiotherapy has been improved. Currently, precision radiotherapy techniques represented by stereotactic intensity-modulated radiotherapy (SIRT) have become a prominent feature in the research and widespread application of tumor radiotherapy. However, due to the broad theoretical and technical scope covered by precision radiotherapy, no corresponding specialized books have been published either domestically or internationally. The publication of this book fills this gap.
