Features: This book is not an academic work; it attempts to outline the full scope of the history of Chinese campus songs. The editor divides the evolution of campus music in mainland China into three generations: the 1980s, which saw Western songs represented by Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, as well as Taiwan campus songs by Ye Jiashou and Li Shouquan, as initiators, reaching a climax with singers like Luo Dayou and Qi Qin; the late 1980s to the mid-1990s, when various Western music and Hong Kong and Taiwan pop songs continued to rise in popularity, with mainland singers like Cui Jian quickly emerging and gaining fame in campus circles, while campus folk songs became a hallmark of Chinese campus music during this period; the late 1990s to the new century, when new campus singers like Pu Shu sang fresh voices, and the original creative force of Chinese universities, with better musical and broader artistic horizons, began to surface and were closely connected with the internet era. This book is compiled following this chronological order. Two visually rich multimedia CDs titled "Century Campus" are included with the book.
